Joanna Cannon & Cathy Rentzenbrink: In Conversation

9th November 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm GMT

£6.95 - £8.95
Cathy Rentzenbrink Joanna Cannon

Joanna Cannon’s debut novel The Trouble with Goats and Sheep was described by The Independent as “a sympathetic and nuanced portrait of society’s misfits.” In the heatwave of summer 1976, two schoolgirls unearth long-buried secrets whilst investigating the disappearance of their neighbour. The novel explores what it is to belong, and how we treat those who don’t. Joanna, also a psychiatric doctor, has an interest in people on the fringes of society and the borders of sanity.

Cathy Rentzenbrink’s memoir The Last Act of Love has had a huge impact since its publication in 2015. An extraordinary story of loss and survival, the book charts Cathy’s childhood before and after her brother Matty suffers a horrific accident. The decade that follows sees Cathy and her family suffer guilt and pain as they grapple with the hardest decision they’ve ever had to face. Cathy is also Contributing Editor at The Bookseller and former Director of Quick Reads.
